Ruth is a superb voice teacher for several reasons. First of all she creates a comfortable experience for all her students by encouraging them to let go of any inhibitions and sing openly and freely which I have found is essential for vocal improvement. Also, she is completely committed to unlocking her students' true potential. During my time at Jemini I not only gained confidence in my voice but Ruth helped me develop a more resonant and present tone as well as a more steady breath flow and a wider range, now I'm hitting notes I didn't think I could ever hit!

"I play guitar and sing in a band but always felt my singing was barely acceptable. So I started taking lessons from Ruth at Jemini Music. After just 3 or 4 lessons my band mates started to comment to me that they were noticing significant improvements. As I've continued with the lessons I feel I've experienced great growth and I've noticed my range improving as I am able to hit higher notes without struggling as I had in the past. She is highly adept at observing and evaluating your technique and applies targeted exercises to address each area of weakness. Both of my children (ages 9 & 15) take piano lessons with Jim. He provides effective instruction in a caring and encouraging manner. He emphasizes theory and the fundamentals while also giving the kids the freedom to explore genres that excite them. Jim creates an environment that nurtures a love of music by holding high standards, but also teaching them to create music for the pure enjoyment of creating beautiful music. Both Ruth and Jim make us feel welcome in their professional studio. We love our "piano home".

I have been studying voice with Ruth for 8 years and my progress has been remarkable. I continue to learn and grow because Ruth is always finding new techniques to share with her students. She knows that every student is different and goes out of her way to understand how you learn and how your body works and then adapts her instruction so it resonates with you. I find every session to be very uplifting, even when you find yourself struggling with a particular technique - there is no pressure, just loads of encouragement. And though her teaching is grounded in classical technique, she has the ability to apply those fundamentals to a variety of singing styles. I highly recommend!

My 7-yr old daughter has been taking piano lessons with Jim since she was 5. Now she's learning how to play the blues!! Jim's teaching principles and years of experience helped my daughter maintain her interest in music and in playing the instrument. He accomplishes this without exerting undue pressure that we all know can cause anxiety and even total discouragement from playing at all.
Like Jim, Ruth is an encouraging, intelligent, perceptive teacher. I have taken voice lessons from Ruth and have such high respect for her craft. She is always prepared, always trying to find new and improved ways to really be the best voice and vessel of positive energy that we could ever be. I am not exaggerating these praises. I have been an "inside my home" singer for a long time and now I have found the confidence to sing with my husband in public, and able to say that I have never heard my voice sound this good. Ever.
Jim and Ruth are the dynamic duo that is Jemini Music. Their studio is easy to get to from Rt 80 and 46. And their beautiful grounds that greet you as you drive in is just the icing on the cake. :-)
